Gravel is a black space with white dots on it that acts as a wall to monsters and Melinda while not wearing hiking boots, but does not block Chip, blocks, or Melinda while wearing hiking boots. It is generally placed to provide a safe haven for Chip against a monster assault, or (occasionally) to guide Chip through invisible walls.
