'''Wire''' and '''Unwire''' (also known as '''Mr. 5D''' and '''Mr. 79''', respectively) are illegal tiles which have the hex IDs of 0x5D and 0x79, respectively. Wire and Unwire are identical outside of the id and name. It is theorized that this entity is used internally in the editor to show the spool indicating the placement/removal of wires. When placed in a level, has the appearance of [[Chip]]'s frames moving upwards.

ChipS CC2.png This page describes a mechanic specific to the Steam rerelease of Chip's Challenge (and anything that emulates it). It may not exist in any other Chip's Challenge game.

Chip's Challenge 2 has some tiles which cannot be obtained in the game itself, but only via external tools such as hex editors and CC2Edit.

Wire and Unwire

'Wire and Unwire (also known as 5D and 79) are illegal tiles which have the hex IDs of 0x5D and 0x79, respectively. Wire and Unwire are identical outside of the id and name. It is theorized that this entity is used internally in the editor to show the spool indicating the placement/removal of wires. When placed in a level, has the appearance of Chip's frames moving upwards.

This entity, by itself, doesn't move at all, and kills the player on touch, akin to the Tile World Lynx version of Swimming Chip.

It can be moved via force floors, similar to lit dynamite, and by being cloned from clone machines.

The entity can go on gravel, dirt and fire, but not on items or hints.

It also cannot trigger blue, appearing or invisible walls.

Direction

Direction (also known as Mr. 53) is an illegal tile with the hex ID of 0x53. It is theorized that this entity is used internally in the editor to indicate the direction of an entity. When placed in a level, has the appearance of multiple things, based on direction: When north, real Green wall, east - fake Green wall, south - no sign, and when facing west, has the appearance of a no-direction directional block.

The entity, similar to Wire and Unwire, does not move by itself and kills the player.

Also similar with Wire and Unwire is the fact that it can go on gravel, dirt and fire.

Unlike Wire and Unwire, though, Direction can go on items and pick them up (except for red keys or computer chips) and go onto hints.

Direction can also trigger blue, appearing and invisible walls, by turning them into walls or floor.
