A bug, sometimes referred to as a bee and called an ant in Chip's Challenge 2, is a monster in Chip's Challenge that always moves along the left wall. The bug is the first monster seen in the game, originally introduced in Lesson 2.
If there is no wall to the left of a bug, it will turn left. If there is no wall within its vicinity, it will resort to continually turning clockwise in a 2-by-2 square until a wall appears to the left of it. Bugs will die in water and avoid fire. Strangely, in Chip's Challenge 2, bugs will avoid canopies, but paramecia will not.
The following diagram illustrates all the properties of bugs:
The blue line is the path the bug will take around the walls. It simply turns left at every opportunity it can, opting to go straight when it can't turn left, and going right when both left and forwards are blocked. The bug also avoids entering the fire on the left side of the wall, instead treating it as if it were a wall.
One further important gameplay situation which pertains to the bug is the Controller and Boss Glitch.
