Jaime Villacorte's notes are a series of notes written in 1990 by Jaime Villacorte about the Lynx version of Chip's Challenge. It contains all the passwords, tips for most of the levels, and many diagrams. It has been speculated that these notes were used in the creation of Microsoft's version of Chip's Challenge, as the game and the notes share similar errors from the original Lynx version.

Errors

These notes contain a handful of errors which may help explain why the MS version differs from the Lynx version in terms of passwords and decade messages.

Errors in Jaime's notes and in the Microsoft version

The Lynx version contained decade messages after completing levels 10 (Brushfire), 20 (Tossed Salad), 30 (Mishmesh), and 40 (Floorgasborg). Jaime's notes exclude these four messages, but do include the rest. The same goes for MSCC.

The notes also contain four password errors, all of which were copied to the MS game.

# Title Lynx password MS password
6 Lesson 6 WNLP WNLD
10 Brushfire VUWS UVWS
28 Ping Pong UJDD UJDO
96 Paranoia WVHY BIFQ

In version 1.01 of the document, the Paranoia password was fixed; however, the MS game still retains it.

Errors exclusive to Jaime Villacorte's notes

Interestingly, the notes also contain many errors dealing with the level titles. None of these errors are present in the MS game, which suggest that the team at Microsoft who ported the game had multiple resources available, most likely including a set of the original Lynx game's 148 level maps and their titles.
