Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2 for Lynx, usually abbreviated as CCLXP2, is the Lynx-compatible version of Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2.
Background[edit]
Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2 was first released in 2002, prior to any stable release of Tile World. At the time, Microsoft's version of Chip's Challenge was the only way to play Chip's Challenge, and the Lynx ruleset was nearly unheard of. As a consequence, CCLP2 contains 48 levels that are unplayable in Lynx, generally due to invalid tiles. 21 additional levels are playable in Lynx but cannot be solved.
As the years went by, the Lynx ruleset gradually grew in popularity, and it was decided that CCLP3 and CCLP1 would be Lynx-compatible. However, 69 of CCLP2's remained unplayable in Lynx. There were several unofficial attempts at making CCLP2 entirely Lynx-compatible, but it took until late 2011 for a project to be formally organized.
Project goals[edit]
The goal was to edit levels in such a way that they would remain in the spirit of the originals. Whenever possible, the levels were edited in such a way that the bold route for the original MS version could also be executed in the edited versions. Such levels had an asterisk * added to their titles.
However, there were some cases when it was impossible to preserve the MS bold route. These levels had LX added to their titles. In addition to this, the passwords to the levels were reversed, all monsters were removed from the monster list so that they remain motionless in MS, and all blocks were turned into clone blocks so they could not be pushed in MS. This rendered all LX levels unsolvable in MS.
The CCLXP2 staff attempted to contact as many designers as possible for permission to edit their levels. Out of the 17 designers who contributed to CCLP2, only 6 were successfully contacted, all of whom gave permission to have their levels edited.[citation needed]
Release[edit]
A beta release of CCLXP2 occurred on August 9, 2014. Following community feedback, a few levels received additional modifications, and the final version of CCLXP2 was released on June 6, 2015.

Special cases[edit]
- Zartacla's Lynx-only bust was left in. The objective of the project did not encompass fixing busts like this.
- Glider and Fire was left unchanged even though it is much harder in Lynx than in MS. A variant called Fireball and Water was considered but ultimately rejected as the original was solvable despite being difficult. To mitigate the difficulty, an extra hint was added in the CCX file and displayed before playing the level. A similar hint was added for Run-a-Muck, which has a difficult section with a teeth monster right at the end of the level.
- Cloner's Maze, while originally solvable in Lynx, was modified so that the MS solution could become possible in Lynx. Other such levels were Ranger Denmark, Traps I, and Yike-o-Matic. All these had overly difficult solutions in Lynx that were made a bit more reasonable without actually compromising on the best possible times that can be scored on either version.
